Clark County Contained within Clark County is a large unincorporated area that includes the world renowned Las Vegas Strip, McCarran International Airport, the Las Vegas Convention Center, the University of Nevada, Las Vegas and many urban residential areas. The Clark County school district is the sixth largest in the country, with more than 285K students and over 300 elementary, middle and senior high schools – the county also has a large number of private and parochial schools. Clark County is home to the “entertainment capital of the world” (Las Vega!) and 14 of the nation’s 15 largest hotels. Speaking of hotels, Clark County experienced an economic impact from the tourism industry of $33 billion in 20005. In fact, tourism drives the states economy on many fronts – approximately 24% of the jobs in Clark County are in the gaming and hotel industries. Clark County is also home to the beautiful Lake Mead National Recreation area, the Toiyabe National Forest, the gorgeous Red Rock Canyon, Hoover Dam (once considered one of the Seven Wonders of the World), numerous parks, museums and recreational and cultural attractions.
