There are hundreds of moving companies in the Las Vegas area that we could list on this site – we would not have room to list them all. But, here are some critical sites and or articles you should read prior to selecting a local mover.

  • Here is a very detailed article on what to look for when selecting a mover via MSN.
  • This site is one of the best resources on the net for researching movers once you’ve identified who you are considering – it has active message boards as well.
  • Here is a great article in what to look for when assessing movers: “How to Find a Reputable Moving Company.”
  • Federal Government Site that provides overview of what to look for and how to research moving companies, along with an overview of your rights.

Transportation Services Authority Office Moving Tips
If possible, visit the mover's office beforehand to check out the equipment and warehouse conditions. To obtain a list of certified local movers from the local Transportation Services Authority office, 2290 S. Jones Blvd., Suite 110, or call 702-486-3303.

Insurance Overview
Be sure the mover explains the various insurance options that are available to you. You may need to purchase extra insurance to obtain full replacement of lost or damaged goods.

Getting the all important Estimate
Get two or more estimates based on a physical inventory of your possessions. You are entitled to a binding, written estimate.

Final Contract and Payment
Get everything in writing. Don't accept verbal price estimates or pickup and delivery Discuss when and how payment will be made. Ensure that the contract reflects your understanding of what has been discussed.

Packing Overview
Decide whether you or the mover will pack your goods. Make sure your moving contract will outlines what services the mover will perform and what work you will do yourself – details are very important.

Maintain an accurate Inventory List
As goods are loaded, keep track of them on an inventory sheet. Check them again as they come off the truck. Note any obvious missing or damaged goods before movers leave.

Dispute Resolution
Try to resolve any dispute with the company. If the dispute cannot be resolved, contact the Transportation Services Authority.

Destination Preparation
Make sure there are no surprises at your destination that will prevent the quick unloading of your goods and to ensure that you minimize the amount of time it takes for your movers to unpack your goods.
